Jeremy enters his 15th year at Student-Athlete Support Services.  He has served in various capacities during his time at Michigan State.  As Assistant Director of SASS, he is responsible for managing the academic support services for the Spartan Men’s Soccer, Swimming and Diving, Rowing, and Field Hockey programs.  During his tenure, Flynn has tutored multiple Academic All-Conference, All-American, and valedictorian student-athletes, and his teams have seen double digit cumulative grade point average increases.  

As the Facility Manager of the Clara Bell Smith Student-Athlete Academic Center, Flynn oversees the scheduling, maintenance, and special projects of the 31,000 square foot building.  He is also an active member of various organizations including the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics(N4A).  He currently serves on the N4A Board of Directors as a Division Director, received N4A Individual Certification in 2011, and graduated from the N4A Professional Development Institute in 2006.  Flynn earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Taylor University in 2000 where he was a four-year varsity letter winner on the football team and four-year member of the chamber orchestra.  A native of East Lansing, Flynn received his master's degree in Athletics Administration from Michigan State University in 2002.  When not servicing the needs of his students, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, coaching, water skiing, wood working and attending sporting events.  He and his wife Jodie reside in Haslett and are blessed with four children, Caroline, Levi, Landon, and Lincoln.

Guest Lecturer and Presenter

While at MSU, Flynn has presented to numerous area schools, community groups, and camps to promote the importance of obtaining a college education and bridging the gaps to their futures.


National Exposure

Flynn has represented MSU on a national level as a regular participant at conferences and meetings.  In 2006 Flynn graduated from the N4A Professional Development Institute (Leader/Manager Track) and in 2014, Flynn presented on “Taking Our Student-Athletes From Backpack to Briefcase” at the N4A National Convention.  In 2013 Flynn was selected as N4A Membership Chair Elect and now serves on the N4A Board of Directors as a Division Director of Membership Services


The Big Ten Academic Fundamentals for Success

Jeremy worked together with a committee of a Learning Specialist and University Academic Advisor staff to put together a curriculum to help all of his student-athletes achieve their highest performance in their academics.  The curriculum is called “The Big Ten Academic Fundamentals for Success.”  Student-athletes complete modules for each fundamental in order to develop or enhance each skill. (more information)


Spartan Career Champions Checklist

Jeremy is very passionate about seeing his student-athletes discover their passions, skills, and talents and empowering them to use their educational and athletic experiences to become leaders in their professions, communities, and families.  Jeremy helped create a 4 year career game plan to guide student-athletes through the process of going from “Backpack to Briefcase.”(more information)
