Multicultural Program

The Multicultural Program provides student-athletes with cultural/diversity experiences and opportunities.  The program is designed to allow all student-athletes the chance to participate in events that celebrate and express diversity.  A major component ofMulticultural Program the program is to serve the needs of student-athletes in their quest for athletic and academic excellence.  One of the primary goals of the program is to provide a means of support and resources to guide student-athletes on their journey towards graduation.

Faculty Mentor Program

Student-athletes are paired with a faculty member who serves as their mentor. The faculty-mentor serves as a support system to give the student-athletes encouragement and guidance. The mentor also helps in the transition for the student-athlete into the collegiate environment.

Peer Leader Program

Incoming freshmen student-athletes are paired with upper class teammates.  This program helps the freshman understand the Senior Send Offcommitments and time demands of being a student-athlete. It also helps the freshmen deal wtih the balance between academics and athletics.

Student-Athlete Celebration Dinners

Student-athletes from all sports are invited to have a dinner each year in which they discuss programs and activities they would like to implement and participate in for the year. This event allows student-athletes from all sports to meet each other and work together for common goals. The event also promotes Spartan Pride for all sports and helps them understand the importance of supporting each other in academic and athletic endeavors.

Senior Send-Off

The Multicultural Program sponsors a graduation reception in honor of student-athletes in the program at the end of the spring semester. The event recognizes the achievements of graduating student-athletes. The Senior Send-Off provides motivation for all student-athletes to understand the significance of graduation.

Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee is a committee of six student-athletes that meet to discuss issues specific for minority student-athletes and they are responsible for coming up with ideas, activities and events for student-athletes.
