Angela Howard enters her seventh year as Director of Student-Athlete Development and her third year as the academic coordinator for the women’s basketball program. Howard has worked for Student-Athlete Support Services for thirteen years and has served as academic coordinator to the men's and women's golf, gymnastics and tennis teams, field hockey, rowing and men’s ice hockey.
As the Director of Student-Athlete Development, Howard is charged with providing opportunities in the areas of Community Service & Outreach, Career Development, Personal Development and Awards & Recognition for the 25 sports and over 750 student-athletes at Michigan State University. Through her work, MSU has received national recognition from the National Consortium for Academics & Sport for the number of events conducted and the number of youth reached through the Putting Athletes and Community Together (PACT) outreach program.
Howard received her bachelor's degree in business and psychology from Michigan State in 1995 and added an MBA in marketing in 1997. As a member of the Spartan women's gymnastics team, she was a four-time Academic All-American (1991-92,'94-95) by the Gymnastics Coaches Association and a 1994 GTE/CoSida Academic All-American.
Howard also serves as a board member for Athletes, Coaches & Officials for Kids(in conjunction with Sparrow Hospital); The Joey Spano Endowment Advisory Board; and Brandon’s Defense Foundation.
