Assistant Director/Academic Coordinator for Baseball, Women's Golf and Hockey

Melissa Tallant

Melissa Tallant enters her 9th year at SASS.  As an Assistant Director of SASS, she supervises two Academic Coordinators while serving as the Academic Coordinator for baseball, hockey and women's golf.  Melissa also coordinates the George Webster Scholarship designed to assist former Spartan student-athletes in the completion of their degree.  Established in 2007, the scholarship has helped former football and basketball student-athletes return to MSU.  In addition to her academic duties, Melissa annually designs the Student-Athlete Handbook and Planner which every student-athlete receives in the Fall.

A recipient of the Academic Advisor Site Visit Grant, she traveled to Melbourne, Sydney and Cairns, Australia in the summer of 2007 to observe the Summer Sports Program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Akron and her masters degree in Athletic Counseling from Springfield College in  Massachusetts. A Cleveland native, Melissa has also spent time at the University of Illinois, Cleveland State University, Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
